Hancock County consists of nine (9) townships: Vernon, Green, Brown, Buck Creek, Center, Jackson, Sugar Creek, Brandywine, and Blue River. There are thirty-six (36) seats to fill in 2022, four (4) in each township. The Township Trustee and Council Members facilitate distribution of basic necessities and essential services within the township.

Job Requirements

• Must be a US Citizen 18 years of age or older at the time of assuming office

• Must be and remain a resident of the township

Responsibilities

• Facilitates distribution of basic necessities and essential services within the township

• Provides fire protection within the township

• Provides emergency medical assistance within the township

• Cares for township cemeteries

• Cares for township parks and common community areas

• Participates on subcommittees in township, county, district

Desired Qualification (not required)

• Community service experience

• Experience running meetings, managing budgets, distributing services

• Compassion and empathy
